FFC Cables (Flat Flexible Cable)Printable

Smart Cable Company can quote any style of FFC Cable. All we need is the following information to come up with your FFC Cable pricing.

Number of Conductors - The number of contacts at each end of the cable.

Conductor Width - The width of each contact.

Conductor Thickness - The thickness of the contacts measured verically. The height of the contacts. Also known as Terminal Thickness.

Pitch - The distance between the contacts, or the spacing of the conductors. To measure the Pitch accurately, measure the center of one contact to the center of the next contact. Common pitches are 0.5 mm, 1 mm, 1.25mm, and 2 mm.

*Pitch Calculation - To calculate the pitch of an FFC Cable, you take the cable's width divided by the number of conductors.

Length - The distance from one end of the cable to the other end. Usually measured in millimeters.

Insert Thick - The thickness of the FFC cable including the support tape or stiffener.

Width - The overall width of the FFC cable.

Span - Also known as Total Pitch. The overall width between the first contact and the last contact. To measure the span accurately, measure the center of the first contact to the center of the last contact.

Edge Width - The distance or length from the first or last contact to the edge of the cable. Also known as Margin Width.

Copper Exposed - The length of the exposed contacts at each end of the cable. The lengths of the contacts for each end can be different. Also known as Strip Length.

Support Tape - The length of support tape or stiffener (typically blue) that keeps the end of the cables rigid, straight, and upright.
